Micromax-owned sub-brand YU entered into the portable power bank division and launched two new Jyuice power banks with 5,000mAh capacity priced at Rs 699 and 10,000mAh capacity priced at Rs 1099 respectively. The devices are now available via e-commerce website Snapdeal.

Both the devices feature an all aluminium alloy shell with rounded edges and slim 8mm body. In terms of specifications, the Jyuice 5,000mAh battery power bank comes with a 5V/2.1A output that can charge the company’s Yunique smartphone (2000mAh battery) nearly 2.3 times with single charge, claims YU. The Jyuice 5,000mAh power bank also includes one USB 2.0 port and one microUSB port. At 7.9mm and 250 grams it has a conversion rate of up to 92 percent.

Xiaomi launches a new 10,000mAh power bank and iHealth Box

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 was expected to launch alongside the Mi Max smartphone and MIUI8 on May 10. But the launch was delayed due to production issues. Xiaomi CEO, Jun Lei confirmed that the Mi Band 2 will be launched in early June.

The Mi Band 2 was showcased on stage by the Xiaomi founder at the Mi Max launch event, but few details about the wearable were revealed. He highlighted the stellar battery life of the device, pointing out how the watch he was wearing had been running for the past 20 days and still had 36% battery remaining.
The device features a display in order to reduce its dependence on a connected smartphone. There is a physical button besides the display which can be used to toggle between showing the time, battery status, heart rate(BPM), daily steps, sleep and other statistics.
The Mi band 2, just like its predecessor, will also be dust and water resistant.

A Chinese company has won the right to sell its leather goods under the iPhone trademark after years of legal back-and-forth with Apple, according to an article in Chinese state news media. The case is yet another that centers on names that are well established in much of the world but that have had to fight for control in China, such as the basketball star Michael Jordan and the shoe brand New Balance.

The Chinese company, Xintong Tiandi, applied for the iPhone trademark in China just after the first Apple smartphones came out, in 2007, according to an article by the state-run Legal Daily last week. Still, Xintong Tiandi’s trademark in China, for leather goods, was approved before Apple’s, which had applied for the rights in 2002, the article said.

The website of Xintong Tiandi features a range of leather products, including pen cases, passport holders, handbags and wallets, all stamped with “iPhone.” None of the products are phones. In a news release issued last week, the company also featured photographs of its other products, like a leather iPad case labeled “iphone” next to a bottle of Rémy Martin Cognac.

In the news release, the Chinese company said that the “huge victory brings esteem to Xintong Tiandi’s promise to protect the iPhone trademark,” before adding that it was willing to work with the American technology giant.

The name iPhone has cachet in China, even if it’s on a passport case.
The sentiment may not be shared, however. “Apple is disappointed the Beijing Higher People’s Court chose to allow Xintong to use the iPhone mark for leather goods when we have prevailed in several other cases against Xintong,” the Silicon Valley company said in a statement on Wednesday. “We intend to request a retrial with the Supreme People’s Court and will continue to vigorously protect our trademark rights.”

While the Chinese company’s approach might be perplexing, it testifies to the power of Apple’s name recognition in the country. The iPhone brand signals middle- or even upper-class status in China, and many are expected to be willing to pay for a passport cover or other item labeled with the Apple product’s name as a way to show that they have made it.

The iPhone ruling, in a high court in the Beijing municipality, is just one of a spate of high-profile trademark and piracy cases in China. The country’s huge number of factories, bolstered by a 100 million-strong class of migrant workers, has made China the workshop of the world, able, among other activities, to quickly pump out products that can make a company a quick profit on the impulse to imitate.
